The Jalon Vallei

Lliber is located in the Jalon valley . The valley is surrounded by hills and mountains with an altitude of 1400 meters .
In the valley it is green and overgrown with vegetation and it continues almost to the tops of the mountains.
In the valley near Benissa is the beginning of the vineyards and almond orchards.
The vineyards are owned by the cooperative Jalon , which in turn is owned by many small farmers. There is both red and white wine.
The best-known wines from this region are very sweet Moscatel wine (dessert wines) . When you visit Casa la Roca ,we will let you taste some of the local wines. The Spanish government gave Jalon for his wines the predicate Denominacion de Origen . This means that the quality is very secure.
Plantations
The almond plantations provide a stunning white blossoms in February. The whole Valley is than colored white ( with a touch of red from the center of the flower ) . Maybe you didn’t know, but the Costa Blanca owes its name to the blossom , the white coast.
The scent of these flowers is lush and memorable . Unfortunately we can not let you smell this. From the village of Jalon , direction Parcent and Alcalali the plantations go from wine and almonds into citrus plantations. Large orchards of oranges , mandarins and lemons colors the region into beautiful orange and yellow colors . The harvest months are October and April.
The people here still live on what the land gives them . The emergence of tourism in recent years , the great landscape and beautiful climate , the roads and other infrastructures adapted to contemporary requirements .
The Jalon valley is a valley that has become her authentic nature reserve , from where the green slopes and the newly built residential areas in the green valley is awaited .
Villages
Lliber, Alcalali, Parcent are scattered like pearls over the Jalon valley . Everywhere are fine examples of well preserved architecture. All the villages here are gems of typical Spanish style and Spanish culture . There are many nice restaurants and there is good local wine and honey for sale.
In the Vall de Pop ( Jalon Valley ) are nine villages, Jalon (or Xalo in the Valencian language) with 2000 inhabitants is the largest. The villages in the valley are really Spanish, which means that everything goes in a slow pace.
The villages are dated from the Moorish period. The houses, buildings and way of life has the Moorish style and lifestyle influences still till this date.
You walk on trails in search of historic ruins from the Moorish period, the old wells , plants , flowers and picturesque villages. A long stretch of vineyards, orange and almond tree plantations are situated around the village.
The village is surrounded by green hills and mountains, the Sierra Bernia is more than 1000 meters high. The local shops have local products like red wine, sweet dessert wine " muscatel " , honey and almond cookies . In many restaurants in this town you can enjoy delicious food and good wine.
